Red Rice is unhulled rice with a red husk. This russet-coloured, wholegrain fragrant rice is full of plant-based goodness, including dietary fibre. It has a lovely nutty flavour, firm texture, and is super easy to prepare. When cooked, the natural red colour in the bran, or hull of the rice, leaches out and dyes the rest of the dish red to pink. Great in salad and stir-fries, or any dish you would usually use rice.
Rinse red rice until the water runs clear. Use 2 cups of water for every cup of rice. Bring to the boil over medium-high, then turn down to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. Keep pot lid on. Let stand for a few more minutes then fluff with a fork to finish.
